Fleeting Focus brings together a collection of recent works by Beechworth based artist Dore Stockhausen. Drawing on her experiences while on residency at Cradle Mountain National Park in 2018and exploring the unique environment on foot, earlier works depict the colours, patterns and forms of the natural landscape contrasted against the increasingly prevalent human made environment.
Working in acrylic on canvas bonded to aluminium composite panels, later works continue this exploration closer to home, drawing on local walking paths around Beechworth and the interior of the artist’s studio. With an ongoing interest in the state of our environment and motivated by the beauty and benefits of nature, Stockhausen’s paintings call towards a deeper observation of the natural world and our fabricated environments.
