Join Elizabeth Willing for a fascinating journey into the art of collage using food as your inspiration.

Elizabeth Willing takes an interest in the performance of eating, specifically food’s role as material mediator within hospitality. Her studio research takes form as sculpture, installation, performance, painting, or video, with materials as diverse as butter, sherbet, timber, wax, potatoes, ceramics, fabric, shortbread, or plant-based sedatives.

Collage has been a throughline for Willing’s work for the past 15 years. She selects images from used cookbooks to create sometimes immense sprawling works, and at other times delicate and pared-back gestures. Her choice in materials is deliberate, sourcing images which toe the line between seduction and repulsion.

In this workshop the artist will introduce participants to her materials, processes, and her approach to making charismatic face collages. You will create your own character collage using vintage cookbooks and food imagery.

Tickets are $15 / $10 for Gallery Friends. All materials supplied. Suitable for ages 12+.
