Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award

A Kyamba Foundation Project

The nationally acclaimed biennial acquisitive award and exhibition celebrates the diversity and strength of Australian textile art. Building on Wangaratta's long and prominent history of textile manufacturing, and craft making, the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award furthers this unique tradition and social history by elevating and promoting the development of contemporary textile practice in Australia.

Thanks to the generous investment of partners, the Kyamba Foundation, the award has grown from $10,000 t0 $40,000 in 2023, its eighth iteration. The increase in prize money guarantees that Wangaratta remains known as the textile art capital of Australia and that the award continues as a coveted national contemporary textile award of excellence. Wangaratta Art Gallery remains grateful to the Kyamba Foundation for their support which will ensure the award's continued success and national profile.
