An exhibition of new and past works by local artist Christine Upton, exploring the meaningful marks and images which constantly recur throughout her work: her obsessions. Concepts of significance and time are investigated using painting, lino block and assemblage which have evolved from inspiration seen and the beauty of nature which surrounds us.
Christine Upton – master lino block printer and batik artist .Christine has been a practicing artist, in rural NSW, since 1978 and has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions in NSW and Vic. Her works are represented in private and public collections throughout Australia, England, USA, Europe and South East Asia.
Christine has been the recipient of many awards including The Ruth & Max Barry Award, Albury 2006; The Pacific Festival Board Award for Batik, Townsville 1985, 1979. The Judges Award, Pacific Festival, Townsville 1983; The Australian Batik Award, Pacific Festival, Townsville 1982, 1979, 1978; The Jill Crouchman Award for Contemporary Painting, Rusden Art Exhibition Armidale 1978; Arts Student Award for Sculpture, National Arts School Newcastle 1972.
